  • Limb-Q Kids Field Testing Completed

    The field test study for Limb-Q Kids concluded in February 2024. Congratulations and thanks to our 16 collaborators who played crucial roles in this achievement! During this period, we collected 800 surveys from eight countries across the globe, highlighting the broad international reach and impact of our research efforts.

  • Evidence to Innovation Seed Grant Award

    The Orthopaedic Research Team at BC Children’s Hospital, along with Dr. Anne Klassen, is thrilled to receive a $140,600 research grant from The War Amps. With the Barber Prosthetics Clinic, we will create a new PROM to understand children's preferences regarding their prosthetics.

  • CIHR Grant Awarded to the Orthopaedic Research Team

    April 2023 - March 2024

    We've received a $100,000 CIHR grant! It'll fund an international test of LIMB-Q Kids, a new measure for children with lower limb differences. We'll recruit kids aged 8-18 from nine countries to validate the survey's functional scales, enabling global use by clinicians and researchers.

Canadian Orthopaedic Research Legacy (CORL) Grant Awarded for Development of LIMB-Q Kids

  • We are very proud to announce that we have been awarded a $20,000 grant to support the field testing translation and cultural adaptation of the LIMB-Q Kids survey.  This will involve having patients from around the world complete the LIMB-Q Kids questionnaire to determine how well it captures the quality of life of patients with lower limb differences.  It will also go towards the process of translating and adapting the survey for use in other countries to make it internationally applicable.

  • The Orthopaedic Research Team at BC Children’s Hospital has received the POSNA Registry Grant in the amount of $148,900. The grant will be used to develop the International Limb Differences Registry (ILDR), a prospective registry which is unprecedented in both size and scope to impact the treatment methods and standard of care for patients with limb differences around the world. By creating a global, prospective registry including lower limb differences, we can facilitate more robust research in otherwise limited areas.

  • We are excited to announce that the Orthopaedic Research Team at BC Children’s Hospital has received a BC Children’s Hospital Foundation Grant for $290,000. The team will be working to continue research on the effects of limb differences and the treatment procedures and orthopedic devices associated with them on children’s short and long term quality of life.

  • We are proud to announce that the Orthopaedic Research Team at BC Children’s Hospital has been awarded a $10,000 Evidence 2 Innovation (E2i) grant. This grant will fund a pilot study on the design and fabrication of patient-specific 3D printed foot prosthesis for patients with fibular hemimelia.
